We all have our own ideas of a paradise holiday destination, don’t we? those dream spots that have made it to your bucket list but you secretly wonder if you will ever be able to tick them off.
Number one on my list is spending a day on a private island. Ever since I read about Richard Branson’s Necker Island I have imagined booking a few nights in this unspoilt piece of land that is host to some of the greenest waters, white sandy beaches and mature palm trees. A sun-drenched tranquil haven, a place where you can shut out the rest of the world and enjoy the serenity of the incredible landscape around you. (not that I have thought too deeply about it)
Then I priced it up. I hope you’re sitting down… £39,000 for 1 Night. That’s if there is availability what with all those Kardashian’s vacating every 5 minutes in complete luxury.
Then I thought what about the fact, if I have to give up on Necker Island, then why not put my efforts into making my dream a reality in one way or another. “Spending a day on a private Island“. I decided to look deeper into other options, then I came across cruise lines, that have brought their own private islands off the coast of Bahamas.
Did you know there are several cruise line’s that have invested in their own private islands off the coast of Bahamas? Most of the cruise lines that own private islands make the most of them by stopping off on nearly all of their Caribbean tours.
At the time of writing this, these are the cruise lines that offer a private Island experience with multiple shore excursions to really take advantage of the Islands.
What’s incredible about these Islands is that they are every bit as stunning to me as Necker Island but after you have paid for your Caribbean Cruise they are essentially free of charge, (inclusive in your stay) That’s a lot cheaper than £39,000 per night. Ok so there are a few thousand other inhabitants depending on the size of the ship but it’s still a completely private piece of unspoilt land where you can experience every shore excursion imaginable.
Most of the ships actually take their on board kids clubs ashore to the beach so they can carry out lots of exciting age specific excursions such as treasure hunts and whale digs.
There are several adult only sections with much more private space away from kids and families, these typically include private coves and cabanas with massage options, extensive water sports, there are bars, restaurants, and even BBQ’s arranged by the cruise lines.
I don’t know about you but I am seriously looking into my next private Island getaway.
If you have been to one of these islands please do get in touch so I can share your story, if you would like a quote on a Caribbean Cruise which includes a day on a private Island just get in touch with me.
