This week I was mortified to hear of a young woman who took to the dizzy heights of the 16th deck of the Allure of The Seas to show off her posing with a daredevil pose for Instagram.
She had previously spotted taking risks close to the decks edge but one onlooker reported to the ships officers that she was dangerously dangling over the wrong side of the balcony.
The guest policies on ships are really strict and the safety of staff and passengers on board is taken very seriously. The policy bans “sitting, standing, laying or climbing on, over or across any exterior or interior railings of the ship.
The Brazen woman was swiftly removed from the ship in Falmouth Jamaica as soon as the ship docked and all ongoing expenses home would have been at her own cost.
What’s-more RCI international banned the customer for life from their ships which I think is the right thing to do, endangering lives at sea can not be underestimated.
This comes just two month after Australian entrepreneur Jonathan Pfahl died after he fell from a cruise ship in the Virgin Islands. He was aboard the Symphony of The Seas and was believed to be celebrating his wife’s Lisa’s birthday when he plunged into the water between St Thomas and St Kitts in the early hours of the morning.

It’s actually worrying just how many lives have been taken over the past 15 years since the launch of Social media. I think cruise ships need to be as strong with their punishment of passengers that breach the rules of conduct on a cruise ship.
I would love to hear your thoughts about this issue. Did RCI do the right thing in banning a customer for life from their fleet?
