Applying for A New Passport…

This last week I went through the motions online of applying for a new passport.

I know I have left it very late as my passport had expired a couple of months ago. Having my father live overseas I wanted to ensure I had my passport up to date.

I decided with the Brexit deadline looming I did not want to get caught up in any delays for passport renewals. I decided to try the renew a passport online service which I have never done before.

I made a cuppa and took 10 minutes to focus on nothing else as I know only too well if you make any such error it would naturally cause delays.

I then had the option of considering the new way of uploading a passport photo shot by Smart phone or to do it the old fashioned way and go and get my photos done in a booth.

Passport photos can be tricky has to be a clear back ground you can not smile at the camera. no distractions so a clear screen behind you white background, no head decorative clothing unless for religious reasons. if you have glasses there can be no glare from the sunlight no editing of photos whatsoever and ensuring the sun does not case any shadowing on the picture, eyes open mouth closed…. Have I forgotten anything. no I think that is about it.

Any way the point is it wasn’t so bad after all. one shot on my trustee Samsung S8 taken by my talented photographer husband and my snap was uploaded onto the site (FYI he is not really a photographer lol)

The online tracking service is amazing I sent the old passport back special delivery next day and within two working days I have been advised my renewal has been accepted, passport printed and I can expect the passport back within 2-3 working days.

That means the whole process will have taken 7 days to receive my passport back.

I can not tell you what a relief it is given I have been rewarded by work to attend a 5 night River cruise in November.

I wonder if any of you need to renew your passport and have been debating doing so online.
