Viva Espana..

Well tomorrow I am flying to my home in Spain for a week, for a well over due visit to see my parents.  Unfortunately not a real holiday, as  I will still be working – my real holiday is later in the month when I cruise on the P&O Ventura.

I haven’t been home since November and my bones need warming up after spending my first winter in the UK for nearly 10 years. However, when I check the forecast and with my parents, it looks like there will be some rain falling in Spain and London may be warmer for a few days next week!! Just my luck, oh well. But at least it will still be warm (ish).. enough to help me thaw out a little..

  • FRI4 APR17°C(63°F)  SAT5 APR23°C(73°F)  SUN6 APR25°C(77°F)
  • MON7 APR23°C(73°F) TUE8 APR23°C(73°F)

So in some ways I am not to worried that  I will be working the majority of the time if the weather is not going to be so great, but am looking forward to spending some quality time with my mum & dad.

I am flying from London City airport with British Airways, surprisingly their fares was no different to some of the low-cost operators from any of the other London Airports and I was also pleased with the very civilised times of the flights also. I arrive in time to still get a few vinos and tapas in before settling down for my afternoon siesta.

This will be about the 3rd time I have flown from City airport, although the last time I flew from there was around 11 years ago on a trip to Paris.  The transportation links are so much easier nowadays with the extension of the DLR which means it will take me half the time to get there as it would if I was travelling from Gatwick or Stansted.  It’s a shame there are not more flights from City airport to some of the other European cities such as Barcelona or Venice for example. Especially cities that have cruise ports.

One of the things I will  be doing whilst home for the week, will be visiting Malaga City. If you have never been, I highly recommend Malaga. The cruise port is just a 10 minute walk from the main tourist attractions of the city, it is also a vibrant city with so many little side streets, tapa bars and abundance of history to explore. There is also the famous Calle Larios which is the main shopping street to buy all your beautiful designer or high street gifts.

My suitcase is packed and I am ready to go, next week my blog will be written from Espana, my other home and I promise to try and  include some much needed sunshine.
