Last Friday I was invited to join Azamara Cruises and British Pullman for a day on board the Belmond.
I, along with 20 others all met at London Victoria station to board this iconic train for a day travelling around the Kent Country side enjoying a sumptuous 5 course lunch with champagne and fine wines with a classic British Murder Mystery thrown in for good entertainment.
As expected, the train, staff and carriages transported you back into time to the early 1900’s. It was an experience that will stay with me forever and one that many would love to experience (especially my mum), a great idea for a treat for someone special.
Our group of 20 took the whole ‘Ibis’ carriage, the oldest of the carriages for this train.
After settling in our arm chairs at out tables, it was time to enjoy the 5 hour journey. Just as Champagne was poured, a woman came screaming through the carriage with a knife in her back. It was now time to solve the mystery.
With different cast members coming through the carriage and offering clues during our lunch courses and flowing wine, I am pleased to say that our team of 4 got the answer right. How?, I do not know.. as we all wobbled off the train after too much really good food and tipsy from all the wine.
The point of this? Well Azamara Cruises are joining forces with the Orient Express to link trains with ships for future itineraries. Something that will be very well received and no doubt for many, a tick off of the bucket list. As this is still yet to be signed, sealed and delivered, I will save all details of this for another blog.
Thank you to Stuart and his team at Azamara for a fantastic day and experience.
