Next week I have a few days off to celebrate my mum’s big 70 birthday. I am hoping to try and make it a bit extra special for her as this is her first birthday without my dad in over 55 years!
I have taken a few days off so will be finishing work on Wednesday evening and driving up to my mums so I can be there from the moment she wakes up. She is lucky lol.
The birthday present has been hidden away for a few months now and I am getting excited about her new present so I hope she does too. I am sure we will be pre-occupied with her new gift for most of the day. Obviously can’t say anymore as she will read this. Thursday night we have an evening out with the Royal British Legion for the local area in Coin, Malaga where we will be celebrating their annual Christmas meal and also mum’s birthday.
Friday morning a very good friend of ours is arranging a surprise for my mum which is one for her bucket list, again cannot say too much at the moment but will provide photos once completed. Then again drinks in the evening with a friend who is celebrating their 60th too.
On Saturday we have our pre-Christmas shop to Gibraltar to get the chocolate & Baileys mostly plus other bits & pieces that we Brits just cannot always get (for the right price) to celebrate Christmas and boxing day traditions.
After Gibraltar, we have lunch planned with some lifelong friends who live near Gibraltar to finish off the celebrations for mum’s big day.
I know it is going to be a difficult day for my mum, but hoping I can make it as good as it could have been if my dad was still here to help her celebrate.
And I have to say, she looks fantastic for her age and I hope I look as good as her when I get to 70.
Happy birthday, mum. You are the best.
