I am not a big jewelry girl but I do love Tiffany & Co. and the few pieces of jewelry that I do own all came in that iconic famous blue box.
When I took my mum to New York 16 years ago, it was only right that we re-created that famous scene of eating a croissant outside the landmark store on 5th Avenue, you know the one I mean. Except we wasn’t dressed to the nines in a beautiful black dress and tiara, it was more like hat, scarfs and winter coats.
Throughout my travels, I have taken advantage of the exchange rate when in different areas of the world and have purchased pieces from the ‘Return to Tiffany’ jewelry range in a variety of locations. A bracelet from New York, another from Montreal, earrings from Toronto, a ring from Sydney and a key ring from Miami. Only earlier this week I was in my local Tiffany Store at Canary Wharf sending one of my bracelets for repair & cleaning.
Sadly, I do also have the Tiffany App on my iPhone and like to browse and pick certain pieces that maybe someone might like to buy me in the near future. Hint, hint…
I am the kind of person that thinks if you are going to invest in jewelry make sure it is something that is timeless and will always hold it’s value. Same with handbags and I have some beautiful Louis Viuttons that again I have collected from around the world.
So, I got extremely excited this week to learn that Royal Caribbean and Tiffany & Co. have joined forces and have opened the first store at sea on the largest ship in the world, Oasis of the Seas.
I think this is a great merge of two very well known brands coming together and can imagine that Tiffany & Co. will do exceptionally well with cruise guests on board and hope to see more stores rolled out across the fleet over the next few years.
The store is located in the ship’s Central Park neighborhood (of course) and will offer a full selection of Tiffany jewelry, including engagement rings and the recently introduced Tiffany T and Atlas collections, as well as Swiss made CT60 watches.
“Nothing can compare to the Oasis-class vacation experience, a testament to Royal Caribbean’s 40 year legacy of innovation,” said Mark Tamis, senior vice president, Hotel Operations, Royal Caribbean International. “Tiffany & Co. is a distinguished global luxury brand and having a boutique on board will truly enrich the premium onboard experience for our guests. From surprising your loved one with a timeless keepsake to popping the question with the perfect engagement ring, what better way to remember a cruise adventure of a lifetime.”
I cannot think of a better reason now to sail on this beast of a ship, if only to purchase my next piece of jewelry to add to my collection… plus, thinking about it, if you purchase in international waters, there has got to be a bargain to be had too..
