Sloths and burials at sea!!
Yes these are just some of the strange requests I get as a cruise consultant. Thought I had heard it all till I was asked about a sloth so here are my top 5 strangest requests in reverse order!
Strange Request 5
Although most people take their child’s nappies with them it is possible to pre order them on the ship as I was asked recently to do for one of my clients. Although saving time and packaging space by having them delivered ,the cost of £59 for three packs of nappies was too much and my client decided to take her own.
Strange Request 4
Does it really matter which way your feet are pointing? Well actually yes it does according to another of my anonymous clients who requested that I choose him a cabin where when he was laid on the bed his feet pointed aft!! Must be something to do with the movement of the ship I think! Any other thoughts?
Strange Request 3
Need a blood test at sea then just ask me? If you regularly need warfarin levels checked whilst on holiday then you may also need INR testing (don’t ask me what it stands for). Although this can be done on board it wont come cheap as it will be done privately so prepare to pay heavily for it.
Strange Request 2
I actually receive a lot of requests from people who have lost their loved ones and who would like to release their ashes in to the sea. This is something that can be arranged and is normally attended by senior officers on board the ship.
Strange Request 1
Yes its a sloth and yes I had a request from a family who wanted to do a cruise from Los Angeles to Hawaii and whilst in Los Angeles had heard about a sloth called Lola. With a little help from Mr Google I was able to find that the Wildlife Learning Centre in Los Angeles can provide a meet and greet for $100 per family. Lola even has her own facebook page.
You can view Lola here:
