A fleet of cars escort MSC Divina to its homeport in Miami!!!

Yes you read that right I did say a fleet of cars – Fiats to be precise!

MSC Divina set sail from Venice to her new home port of Miami on 2nd November 2013 and was accompanied by a Rosso Brillante (Metallic Red if your Italian is as bad as mine) Fiat 500 or “Cinquecento” as it is known in Italy. This will be the first ever MSC ship to be home ported in North America.

This touch of Italian style surprised both spectators and passengers as the car was loaded onto the ship.

What followed was an iconic journey as MSC Divina and her new passenger embarked on an 18 night Grand Voyage to Miami  with the journey being reported on various social media sites throughout.

MSC have always been lavish in their naming ceremonies and I can vouch for that having been to a few of these in my time. The last one lasted over 6 hours!!

The Fiat tie in is due to the many Italian-branded experiences and products aimed to set MSC apart from its competition. Onboard these products range from a Segafredo Cafe to a Nutella creperie and a Venchi gelateria making your cruise a truly Italian feel.

MSC Divina made its way across the Atlantic before arriving to one of the most bizarre and entertaining welcomes I have ever seen in my 12 years of being a Cruise Consultant!

Yesterday she was escorted into Miami by a fleet of high-powered FIAT 500 personal watercraft.

It certainly got the message across that here comes something different. What do you think?
