Preziosa Here I Come!

This time next week I will be on my way to Gatwick to fly out to Genoa & join the MSC ship, Preziosa. This will be my first experience of  sailing on an MSC cruise and I have to say I am very excited. This ship is one of 4 in the Fantasia class along with the Divina, Splendida and Fantasia.

Another first for me is that I will be visiting 3 ports that I haven’t been to before during my cruise. They are are Rome, Valletta and Palermo. This is an educational trip, & not a holiday, so although there will be excursions & free time in port we also get to go on a behind the scenes tour of the ship, see all the different cabin types, sample some of the speciality restaurants and get to take a look at the exclusive Yacht Club area. It’s a hard life!

In all honesty the feedback I get from my customers about MSC is mixed. I have some customers who love the continental clientele & food on board and some who didn’t really find this cruise line suited them. One thing everyone does say is that the ships themselves are beautiful, very grand & glitzy. The Preziosa is the newest ship in the fleet, launched only 3 years ago, although she will be handing that title over to the Meraviglia in May of next year and in turn the accolade will the go to the Seaside which is due to be launched in November 2017. MSC are expanding at a rapid rate and will actually be launching 11 brand new vessels over the next 10 years. Read more about that here.

I’m on the ship for 5 nights, so I’m not sure I will get to do everything I want to – 4D cinema, bowling alley, Formula 1  Simulator, Waterpark, a spot of karaoke, most of the 20 bars and not forgetting Nuttella Corner for chocolate crepes! I will, however have a good try.

Having listened in on various webinars about the expansion of MSC it’s obvious that they are trying to win over the all important British market. They have put on a few sailings out of Southampton this year (and some very keen prices). I envisage that in the not too distant future with all the new ships due to launch we would get a ship based in Southampton at least during the Summer season.

My next blog will be a report of my trip, so look out for my honest review upon my return and if you have any questions or want me to find out anything specific about the Preziosa leave a comment by Friday the 22nd of April.

TTFN 🙂
