Clowning around at the Circus
On Wednesday evening I went to my first ever circus show and had the best time. I don’t know why but I have never been before every time it has been in town all set up in the field as I drove by I always thought it looked fab but never booked to go and then last week my boys had seen all the posters around the town that they put up and said they would love to go and I thought why not. The show started at 19:30 and because it was a week night we were lucky enough to get ring side seats as it wasn’t too busy. I was a bit dubious of this as I didn’t want to be picked on to get into the ring by one of the clowns but my little boy insisted so there we sat , waiting for it all to start. It was the American Circus and I was slightly disappointed to learn that there wasn’t any chance of seeing elephants or tigers as apparently they no longer do this but we were not disappointed with the show. My boys are 7 and 4 and I wasn’t sure what they would make of it but they spent most of the hour and a half with mouths wide open in amazement. The show began with three guys dressed up as pirates doing acrobats and flips and sword fighting so it was right up there street. My youngest was slightly confused with the magician who made the lady disappear out of the box as he turned to me and said “I don’t get it mom , where is she”. They also had the big metal cage where the guy on the motorbike drives round and round in a circle going upside down – and no Louie you are not having a motorbike!!!!!!!
The whole show lasted about and hour half with an interval in the middle and I have to say it was really worth the money. It was a completely new experience for the boys and they really loved it all . It was a bit cheesy in parts but a nice family evening out that I would really recommend. My favourite part was the acrobats. There were about 6 men and they were just so talented. Two would stand on a platform and then jump onto a seesaw and flip the guy standing on the other end up into the air doing a triple somersault!! For his big finish he did a somersault and landed in a chair that was raised 15foot in the air – just fab!!
If you are not lucky enough to have the circus in your hometown then fear night as there is another way to experience all the fun of the circus and that is to cruise with Ncl on the Epic. They have the ultimate dining experience with the cirque dreams and dinner onboard.
There is a Spiegel Tent with its one-of-a-kind Cirque Dreams and Dinner show that’s part circus and part Moulin Rouge. Cirque Dreams and Dinner provides a dizzying array of acrobatics, singing, comedy and specialty acts from the talented and shockingly flexible Cirque Dreams troupe. And guess what; dinner is also included with this amazing show. It is two decks high with a circus theme. The cast include 16 dedicated performers, an additional 15 to 20 servers with accompanying roles and costumes and a significant amount of audience participation. The dinner is a prix fixe three course with only two options, $20 per person for the front seats or $15 for the back seats. The two hour show is presented in the round – with trapeze and other aerial acrobatics over the heads of the diners. What a lovely way to enjoy the brilliant food onboard and be entertained as well .
