Frozen Planet will melt your heart with Silverseas

What a wonderful insight into the areas of this world that most of us know little about. This David Attenborough BBC programme takes you on the ultimate polar expenditure with the fantastic wilderness and animals of the Arctic and Antarctica. When the first part of the show kicked off with the penguins making a nest out of rocks and then capturing one of them stealing from his penguin pals nest to make his bigger and better I knew that this was going to be a great series. Apparently it takes the biggest and best nests to attract the females so there is a lot at stake!!!

The show not only showed you the polar bears and penguins that we are more familiar with but a type of Whale that I had never even seen let alone heard of. The Narwhal is a rarely seen Arctic Whale and has a tusk sticking out from its head. The tusks use is slightly unknown but is thought to be used by them as a tool for finding food and channelling solar pulses.
I think they are also known as the Unicorns of the Sea, they were fascinating creatures.

Not only was the wildlife amazing but the actual changes in the landscape as spring arrived after five months was fascinating. Speeded up footage showed how frozen waterfalls melted into life with the return of the sunshine and warmer weather.
Well if like me your appetite has been whetted by the Frozen Planet then fear not you don’t have to be David Attenborough to explore the delights of this earth you can now enjoy it all in the luxury of a cruise. Silver sea’s purpose-built Silver Explorer expedition ship (formerly the Prince Albert II) has been designed specifically for navigating waters in some of the world’s most remote destinations, including both of earth’s Polar Regions. A strengthened hull with a Lloyd’s Register ice-class notation (1A) for passenger vessels enables Silver Explorer to safely push through ice floes with ease. A fleet of Zodiac boats allows Silver sea Expedition guests to visit even the most off-the-beaten path locations and an expert Expedition Team provides insight and understanding to each unforgettable Silver Explorer cruise adventure.
As I have blogged previously I have been fortunate to spend a few nights on this cruise ship on a educational trip that took us from Edinburgh to Hamburg (not quite such an exciting itinerary as you can imagine but it was all about the service and food. Click here to read more)
Finding your perfect Silver seas expedition couldn’t be easier just give me a call or send me an email with your ideas and I can find something perfect to suit your needs and for you to truly experience a once in a life time trip.
