Interactive experiences, dining and shopping outlets inspired by the hugely popular Super Mario franchise will be at the centre of the brand-new Super Nintendo World, Universal Orlando Resort has revealed.
It’s one of five themed worlds as part of the major new Universal Epic complex at Universal Orlando (Florida), due to open in 2025. Other themed spaces include the magical Wizarding World of Harry Potter, ideal for any aspiring witches and wizards!, plus the imaginative How To Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk area.
Over in Super Nintendo World, guests will enter the iconic green pipe to get into the complex, and see all kinds of famous Super Mario Characters and landmarks, from Peach’s Castle, to pacing Goombas, spinning coins, ? blocks, plus Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and even Donkey Kong!
Super Nintendo World will be split into two key spaces – Super Mario Land & Donkey Kong Country. Super Mario Land will be a bright and colourful featuring an array of very special theme park rides and activities, including:
- Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge – An augmented reality team-based attraction that brings the thrilling fun of Mario Kart to life in a one-of-a-kind theme park ride experience.
- Yoshi’s Adventure – A theme park ride that will take guests of all ages through Mushroom Kingdom alongside a team of Yoshis in search of curious, glowing eggs.
- Toadstool Cafe – A tasty eatery serving all kinds of super delicious delights, from Mario and Luigi-themed burgers to Fire Flower Spaghetti and Meatballs.
Alongside these main attractions, Super Mario Land will also be home to Yoshi’s Snack Island and Turbo Boost Treats, walk-up dining venues, 1-UP Factory and Mario Motors retailers, and character meet-and-greet areas.
Elsewhere, in Donkey Kong Country – the first to be opened in the United States – guests can enjoy the wild terrains of Donkey Kong Country, a lush landscape filled with towering trees, waterfalls and the famous Golden Temple! Here, guests can enjoy:
- Mine Cart Madness – A wild ride whereby big and little kids hop on a mine cart through the jungle to help Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong safeguard the sacred golden banana.
- A tasty menu of eats and merchandise, all inspired by the Donkey Kong Country video game, will be available at a variety of retailers, details of which are due to be revealed in the coming months.
Guests attending Super Nintendo World can level up their experience at the complex by purchasing a Power-Up Band, a device that will allow them to collect digital coins, collect stamps, earn virtual keys and uncover hidden surprises. Top Power-Up Band players can see how they rank amongst fellow guests via leaderboards scattered across Super Nintendo World.
