Thailand Cruises

What’s your idea of the perfect holiday? Is it sunning on tropical beaches, dancing under the moonlight and diving underneath emerald waves? Or does it involve visiting stunning temples, bustling markets and wildlife refuges for elephants? In either case Thailand won’t disappoint, and this is without even mentioning the amazing cuisine. Head to the sunny beaches of Phuket to enjoy crystalline waters and sea turtles. From the temples of Wat Pho and Wat Arun to the night markets of Bangkok, you’ll have the chance to both explore.

THAILAND CRUISE PORTS

Bangkok

Thailand’s capital city offers an exciting blend of fast-paced modern shops, buzzing nightlife and serene temples. Go shopping along Khaosan Road, explore the floating markets or treat yourself to the freshest street food you’ll find anywhere! The Grand Palace is a true must-see, with its opulent style. Temples like Wat Arun with its soaring spire and Wat Phra Kaeuw with its reclining Buddha also liven up any visit.

Koh Samui

Ko Samui, Thailand

Enjoy a little slice of paradise on Koh Samui, famed for its coconut groves and lush rainforests. It’s situated in the Gulf of Thailand, surrounded by turquoise waters that draw you in for scuba diving and snorkelling. If you can tear yourself away from hotspots like Lamai and Chaweng beaches, go see the famous golden Buddha statue at Wat Phra Yai or visit one of the island’s luxury spas for a day of pampering.

Phuket

Phuket, Thailand

It’s hard to think of a more idyllic setting than Phuket, a gorgeous Thai island in the Andaman Sea known for its lush rainforests and amazing beaches. Head to Phuket City for bustling markets, Buddhist temples and museums or Patong for a wild dance-till-dawn nightlife. However it’s the beaches that are the main draw here, fringed with palm trees and edged with warm turquoise water inviting you to dive right in.

What You Need To Know About Thailand

When is the best time to visit Thailand?

Thailand’s weather is divided into hot and rainy seasons. You may want to visit during the hot season, which lasts between January and April. This is the best time to visit for sunny days and warm weather that draws you straight to the beach. January can be very humid, but it freshens up in February and March. If you visit between March and October you could run into a rather unpredictable forecast with sudden downpours. However, don’t let this put you off – showers don’t last all day, and it keeps the temperature down for those who don’t enjoy hot weather!

What are the highlights of a Thailand cruise?

A tour of Thailand usually starts in Bangkok, the country’s cosmopolitan capital where old meets new around every turn. Don’t miss a visit to the Grand Palace, with its glittering buildings. Nearby is the Emerald Buddha and Wat Pho, featuring Thailand’s largest reclining Buddha. Bangkok’s floating markets are also a must-see for their traditional wooden boats and colourful produce. Another highlight is outside of the city – the Golden Triangle marks the point where Myanmar, Laos and Thailand meet. If you fancy the tropical island experience, venture to Phuket for beaches and don’t miss a visit to Koh Phi Phi’s snorkelling hotspots.

Which local foods in Thailand should you try?

Thai food is world-famous for its blend of fresh, savoury and fragrant flavours. Rice noodles provide the perfect base for dishes like Pad Thai, where they’re stir-fried with tofu, egg and shrimp. Sip on a bowl of Tom Yam with its tart broth, or tuck into the seasoned minced meat dish called ‘larb’, usually served with sticky rice. Another typical food that’s fresh and delicious is Som Tam, made from papaya and seasoned with tomato, beans, chilli and lime. And of course, Thai curries are well-known by westerners but must be sampled in their place of origin to be truly appreciated!

THAILAND - DID YOU KNOW?

There’s a whole country beyond Bangkok to explore, and one of the most exciting ways is to sign up for a trekking tour of Northern Thailand. Take an excursion into these mountains and you can enjoy white water rafting, trekking, and enjoying the scenery. Hike up mountains like Phu Chi Fa, or have a gentle stroll through the National Parks like Khao Sam Roi Yot. Many travellers head to Thailand specifically for its amazing scuba diving and snorkelling. You can get PADI certified to explore the waves surrounded Phuket’s Koh Phi Phi island, where you’ll come face to face with colourful marine life and shipwrecks in these aquamarine waters. The Similan Islands are also a top spot for diving. The Thai people love a good celebration, with the urban streets of Pattaya and Bangkok rather legendary for their nightlife. You can join in with a full moon party in Koh Phangan, the Thai New Year water festival in April, or see the spectacular sight of the Naga Fireballs festival. Thailand is a great place to come face to face with elephants, but take care where you visit as some elephant tourist experiences are less than kind to these gentle giants. Visit ethically-run sanctuaries like the Elephant Nature Park which are home to rescued animals.
