Buzios Cruises

Enjoy the laid-back Brazilian lifestyle in beautiful Buzios, a holiday hotspot for the rich and famous as well as Cariocas in search of a weekend getaway! It’s positioned a couple of hours’ drive north of Rio de Janeiro, featuring a glamorous nightlife, designer boutiques and pristine, golden sandy beaches to work on your tan. Buzios was once a sleepy fishing village before it was ‘discovered’ by Brigitte Bardot in the 1960s, making it an instantly fashionable haunt for the A-list to rival St Tropez. You’ll see a bronze statue of the French starlet on the ‘Orla Bardot’ promenade today.

BUZIOS - DID YOU KNOW?

The best time to visit Buzios is during the high season between January and March, when the sun is bright and the streets fill up with visitors drawn to this exclusive enclave. Many businesses shut for the winter, and the beaches can be washed out during the rainy season between October and December. The main commercial thoroughfare is the Rua das Pedras, lined with shops and eateries. You can admire the stained-glass souvenirs, stroll around the art galleries, and tuck into a plate of fresh seafood while watching the world go by. Orla Bardot skirts the edge of the beach, making this promenade an ideal location for taking photos. Don’t miss a visit to local institution Chez Michou, known for its amazing crepes. The atmosphere is friendly and informal – you can order the crepe of your choosing at the counter and they’ll bring it right to your table. It’s been featured in the Guinness Book of World Records for fastest crepe- making! Get out and find the best beach in the area with a boat tour off the coastline. A schooner tour takes you around the city to explore its seven beaches and three islands. The scenic journey is complemented with free-flowing caipirinhas and guarana juice, along with a festive vibe.
