Bristol Cruises

Bristol blends old with new in its regenerated waterfront docks and copious street art (it’s the home of Banksy, after all). This city might be small in size but it’s quite cosmopolitan in its energy, filled with chic galleries and trendy restaurants housed in former industrial warehouses. Explore the medieval Old City to see remnants of its past, like the Old Council House and St Stephen’s Church, or browse through the independent shops along Park Street. Have a soak in the Bristol Lido hot springs or take an excursion to Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage City just 30 minutes away.

What You Need To Know About Bristol

What are the can’t-miss sights in Bristol?

Start your exploration of the city by walking around its revitalised harbourside, which is lined with pubs, restaurants, and cultural hubs like the Arnolfini Centre for Contemporary Arts. Take a scenic boat tour around the harbour to see the city from a different side. Bristol’s associated with its famous suspension Bridge, which links the city’s Clifton area with Leigh Woods. If you aren’t bothered by heights, take a walk across this feat of engineering! For something a bit different, why not visit the We The Curious museum? This interactive science museum offers plenty to make and do, particularly if you’re travelling with children.

How can you reach Bristol from the cruise terminal?

Bristol’s cruise terminal is located in the Avonmouth Docks, which are part of the larger Port of Bristol. When you’re exiting the cruise, you’ll find a taxi rank to your right. Pre-book a taxi if you don’t want to wait! This is the easiest way to get into the city centre, which is a pleasure to explore on foot. Inside the cruise terminal, there’s a Guest Experience Crew who are available to help you figure out directions to wherever you need to go, or give advice about the tourist attractions in town. These crew members are a good first port of call.

Parking facilities around the cruise terminal

The Avonmouth Cruise Terminal was recently constructed and offers all modern amenities one would expect, including secure private parking. However, you must reserve a spot in these facilities ahead of time. You can contact your booking agent, cruise line representative or tour operator to pay for this spot in advance. Upon arrival, use the West Town Police Gate. From there, it’s a short journey to the Drop/Off and Car Park area – just follow the signs! You’ll need to display your Car Park Permit whilst you’re away on your cruise, and your car will be there when you get back.

BRISTOL - DID YOU KNOW?

Many of Bristol’s best attractions centre around its famous music and art scene. Get a taste of this at The Cube, a cinema and arts centre that runs as a non-profit collective. You can also soak up its musical heritage at festivals like the St Pauls’ carnival, focusing on Afro-Caribbean culture. Another exciting festival is the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta. This is Europe’s biggest hot air balloon festival, drawing hot air enthusiasts from all over the globe. The sky fills with these colourful creations during the weekend in August it’s held. Street art is also a major attraction in Bristol, home to one of the genre’s most famous names, Banksy. The city’s covered in his creations as well as works from lesser-known street artists, so a good way to pass the time is to walk about and photograph the stunning murals you’ll see at every turn. Nelson Street is a good area to look! Bristol’s a great jumping-off point for forays into the beautiful Southwest countryside of England and all the attractions of Wales just over the bridge. You can drive an hour or so to reach the famous beaches of Cornwall and Devon, or visit Brecon Beacons National Park in just two hours.
