The North / South divide….

Looking for a cruise that sails out of the UK, then usually Southampton is the port that most people would think first, but this sometimes isn’t the best option.  Newcastle would be a great port to choose if you are wanting to cruise to the Fjords.  Did you know that Newcastle is 300 miles closer to Bergen and Stavanger than Southampton is, so with an average speed of 18 knots that is a saving of 16 hours at the start and end of your cruise.  So the biggest advantage is you will visit more ports sailing from Newcastle than you would Southampton.

Good news for people living in the North as Fred Olsen is moving the Balmoral to Newcastle in 2016 and will offer some fantastic itineraries.
