My children’s favourite port….

Pisa and Dubrovnik are on the list of my children’s favourite ports, well that was until we went to Gibraltar this year. My 9 year old son absolutely loved Gibraltar..

We decided to take the walk from the ship up to the cable cars, which was about a half hour walk. When we reached the entrance to the cable cars we were met by a massive queue with an anticipated wait time of 2 hours. Not what we were expecting. We were prepared to wait as the children really wanted to see the monkeys, but in the end we decided to take an organised minibus tour, which in hindsight was the best thing to do. With the cable car it will only take you to a certain height, you then have quite a steep climb to the caves and then a further climb to the rock. With the mini bus the driver will take you to the caves, meet you 20 minutes later and then take you up to the Rock and will also allow you to hold one of the monkeys. He was also informative and told us a lot about the history of Gibraltar and the monkeys.
