Infant prices……

I have always been surprised at how the majority of Cruise Companies don’t offer infants to travel free, you have to ask the question what are they paying for?  The children’s clubs do not start until they are 2 or 3, and they don’t require a great deal at meal times.  I understand that they have to pay a small fee but can they really justify prices as high as £1455 for a summer cruise for an under 2 year old??

Norwegian Cruise Line were (i think) the only cruise line to offer a free berth for children under 2, this is set to change to bring them in line with several other cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean and Carnival.  Norwegian, which currently does not allow children under the age of six months to sail aboard their ships, previously only charged a small portion of the fare to cover port fees and goverment taxes.  All children will now pay the same rate, which is typically the redcued 3rd or 4th
fare when travelling with 2 adults in the same stateroom.

Children prices can also be high on cruises but I think this is a little more jusified, some probably eat more than adults, they have access to ice cream and treats thoughout the day and of course majority of children will take advantage of the kid clubs that are on offer.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the above…
