Next week sees the start of our family cruise on board the Independence of the Seas. I have never sailed on the Indy but was lucky enough to be on the launch back in April 2008. I did really like the ship, especially the Royal Promenade so I am really looking forward to it. My biggest concern is how busy the ship will be. Having children at school means I have to travel in the main summer period, which of course jumps up the price but also makes everywhere so busy. Only time to tell..
I have had friends and work colleagues that have been on the Indy many times and absolutely love the ship, it seems to be a favourite for UK cruise passengers.
Royal Caribbean have also announced the ship will have a multi million pound refit. She will be updated to come in line with Royal Caribbeans newer state of the art ships, but will also have some features that are new to the fleet.
What is even more exciting is in the initial planning stage of the refit Royal Caribbean are asking travel agents for their suggestions which I think is a great idea. A colleague I work closely with suggested a trampoline area would be great and she was pleased to hear that a trampoline park is being added, wonder how many suggested this? Other enhancements that are being introduced are water slides, an escape room and laser tag.
With just one more week left at work, diet in full swing (always panic diet the last week) and entertain 2 excited kids for the week I think come next Saturday I will be ready for my holiday. I will of course take lots of photos while I am away and will give you an honest review.
