So I am back off our 2 week family holiday on the Independence of the Seas, and what a fab holiday we all had. It truly was fantastic, nice and relaxing and spending quality time together.
I loved the ship, the Royal Promenade on some evenings was spectacular, such a great atmosphere. My biggest negative was we thought the ship was focused too much on indoor space, especially in the evenings. There were only 2 bars outside which was round poolside which of course is great in the day but not so good on the evening. Also, the main buffet restaurant is all indoors, of course you can take your food out round the poolside but I did miss being able to walk straight outside to a seating area which was part of the restaurant. That really is my only negative.
Of course the ship is brilliant for families, and what we found was there was lots of big family groups travelling together which was lovely to see, they all must have made such wonderful memories together. Yes there were lots of children on board but to be honest they seem to stay in a certain area of the ship. Staff are very strict too on the evening and at 1pm no under 17 year olds are allowed out without parents or guardians, and as soon as 1pm came security guards could be clearly seem on cabin decks and public decks. If they did see someone out they would escort them back to the cabin and they would have a warning.
We did go to see the 2 ice shows and also the musical Greece which I have to say was amazing, especially the ice shows .
There is so much more to tell you and I will also give you my children’s honest opinions and photos too. Will do a more detailed blog, but for now I am back in the office and ready to take your call.
