Capri…. a hidden gem

On our cruise in the summer the Ventura docked in Naples, I knew straight away I wanted to go to Capri for the day.  So with a little bit of research we decided to go their independently. To get to Capri you have to take the hydrofoil which takes about 45 minutes. So we got off the ship really early as we knew it was going to be busy at the ferry terminal. I have to say it was a bit of a nightmare at the beginning with the sheer volume of people and knowing where to go to get the tickets. We somehow managed to buy the right ticket and catch the right hydrofoil. We couldn’t really see much on the way over because we were inside the hydrofoil, but once we got off I was absolutely amazed at the beauty of this island – a hidden gem. We then couldn’t decide whether we wanted to go on a boat trip and take in the caves and the Blue Grotto or take the tram up to Ana Capri. So with a promise to the children of an ice cream once we got to the top we decided to go up to Ana Capri.

I have to say we were blown away with the views, and I would recommend anyone travelling round the Amalfi Coast to try and visit Capri. It holds some very special memories for me and hopefully the children will remember it too .

You could also take a taxi that would take you all round the island

There is so much wealth its unbelievable, my husband fell in love with the Prada shop, situated on the cliffs edge.

The journey back to Naples was fantastic, we were able to sit outside and watch us sail away from this beautiful island, going past some very expensive and excluisve yachts.  We had a wonderful day and would certainly recommed it.
