When I heard that Royal Caribbean International will be operating sailings out of Dubai in winter 2019-20 – ending an absence of nearly three years from the Arabian Gulf, I knew this would be my blog topic this week. We cruised in 2011 on Brilliance of the Seas from Dubai. I can say without hesitation that it was our best holiday yet. The weather was just perfect with an average temperature of 25 degrees. The interesting ports with some of the best architectural buildings in the world, old and new, the UAE is a fantastic, family-friendly destination offering year-round sunshine, unrivalled shopping, and some of the best beaches you’ll ever relax on.
Not only was the weather fantastic but we found the passengers onboard to be of a wide mix of nationalities which made the whole cruise experience so different from cruising out of Southampton. With only a 6 hour flight from the U.K. and if flying with Emirates, you get to fly in one of their Airbus A380’s which makes flying a bearable experience.
We added a post-cruise hotel stay onto our holiday and stayed at the Jumeirah Beach Resort Hotel. This was an added bit of luxury for us and probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in. We got complimentary access to Wild Wadi water park with our stay which was a hit with my wife and children!
Starting or ending your cruise holiday in Dubai is a great way to make your holiday that extra special. With so much to do in Dubai alone, you almost need to come back on another holiday. The Mall of Dubai with it’s inside ski centre, the Burj Khalifa – the tallest building in the world, the markets, desert safaris and all the theme parks just makes it the Orlando of the East.
