The beautiful Balmoral

This week’s blog is all about Fred Olsen’s Balmoral, as i recently had the chance to go on board for the day whilst she was in port at Newcastle port of Tyne. I must admit i wasn’t sure i would like the ship as i have been on one of the other Fred Olsen’s ship a good few years back and i was not so impressed however i must say going on Balmoral has changed my opinion as she was a lovely ship and i would definitely recommend to my customers. All of Fred Olsen’s ship’s have had a refit or a freshen up in the last two years so they are more bright and modern than i remember from before.

Balmoral is a nice sized ship, just over 43000 tones and holding around 1350 passengers, she sails mainly out of either Southampton, Newcastle port of Tyne, Rosyth Edinburgh and also Dover, so somewhere to suit most people and a good range of itineraries.

We started off the day with a little presentation in one of the lounges showing us all the ships and how they have been updated and refurbished and they do all look brilliant, a lot more bright and airy with lighter and more modern decor. The presentation also showed us some of the itineraries on offer for next year too.

After that we started our tour of the ship, starting off with looking at some cabins, we looked at a good range from inside, single inside (these i was really impressed with, i thought the size was very good) then ocean view, some porthole and some picture window, then balcony cabins, superior balcony and lastly some suites which were amazing, if you have the money to treat yourself then go for it you won’t be disappointed! Overall though i was impressed by them all, very good sizes.

I have lot’s more to tell you so watch out for my next blog to find out more!
