We all have different opinions about cruising but dress codes have caused many an argument for people….
Some say that there shouldn’t be any dress codes at all and you should be able to dress as you please when and where you like and that dress codes are out dated and something of the past. Others however love nothing more than to getting dressed up in a lovely cocktail dress and tuxedo to go to dinner!
Most cruise lines now have on average two formal nights out of seven which i think gives a good balance, the rest are usually smart casual.
For formal nights your usually expected to wear and evening gown/cocktail dress for the ladies and tuxedo/black tie dinner suit for the men, then for the non formal nights, casual dress/skirt and blouse for the ladies and polo shirt and smart trousers for men.
Although on some reviews on our website, which you can take a look – it has been said that people have witnessed other guests turning up to the restaurant in a dressing gown and even swimwear!! Which i think is far too relaxed for a cruise and in my opinion should be asked to leave if dressed like that.
Now all cruise lines are different so its always best to check before booking especially if you are or are not against dress codes. Our website is the best place to visit it has a very useful page which gives you all the information for most cruise lines and what they expect on formal and non formal nights, take a look here ……. http://www.cruise.co.uk/guides/cruise-information-fashion/?affref=trudyc
Do you enjoy formal evenings and would you miss them if there were to stop? Do you think it’s and important part of cruising? Or are you on the other hand and would like to see more relaxed dress codes? We are all different and i would love to hear your thoughts and opinions!
