Goodbye Party cruises

There is not much I like when it comes to rules with P&O but I have to admit I am liking this new one of theirs coming into effect from the 1st Jan 2018.

Originally known as taster cruises for those wanting to give a short cruise a go before booking a full 7 to 14 night cruise these have slowly become known as party cruises and as a result have put off the real customer looking to see if cruising is for them.

If you are none the wiser and decide to try a 2 or 3 night cruise you are more likely to come across Hen and Stag parties or big family groups looking to celebrate a special occasion.

Well P&O have had enough and have bought out some strict rules starting with their ‘Bring your own drinks’ policy.

Passengers may take on board one bottle of wine, champagne, spirits etc to be consumed on board

Any alcohol purchased in ports of call will be stored for passengers until disembarkation when it will be reunited with its owner to be enjoyed once home.

This policy starts from the 1st February 2018.

Dress Codes, to be adhered to are:

✓ Daytime – leisurewear
✓ Evening Casual – stylish resortwear or leisurewear.
(No trainers, football shirts or tracksuits)
✓ Black Tie – glamorous eveningwear for ladies and dinner jackets,
tuxedos or dark lounge or business suits with a tie for men

Strictly banned are any of the following:

✗ Fancy dress (except for P&O Cruises theme nights)
✗ Clothing with personalised slogans and images
✗ Novelty clothing
✗ Inflatables, bar crawls, practical jokes and noisy drunken behaviour.

Seriously though, bringing inflatables onto a cruise ship is so out of place, vibes of Magaluf, Ayia Napa etc.

I think it is a brave move and personally i welcome it.

What do you think?
