P&O take the Adonia Back!

It wasn’t that long ago that P&O announced that Adonia would be leaving the P&O fleet to start Fathom in the Caribbean but it appears it hasn’t gone down as well as they thought it would do as last week we saw Adonia re-join the P&O fleet. Fathom was set up for ‘Social Impact’ cruises in which guests would go and help out local communities in the Caribbean.

Okay the Adonia leaving wasn’t as sad as say the old QE2 or the Artemis but Adonia does have a following of loyal past passengers.

She returned to her homeport of Southampton on the 16th June after undertaking a refit which has seen the ship revamped. She will still be Adults only along with the Oriana and Arcadia.

Just to run over some of the big changes guests will find on board, she has had a general overhaul of soft furnishings to give the ship a more modern and lighter look.

Because she is a smaller ship she doesn’t have the facilities of a bigger ship but they have decided to open the buffet 7 nights a week, really, I would have expected this and I wasn’t aware that this wasn’t the case before – did anyone get caught by this? They have also a new Menu in the Ocean Grill Restaurant.

One of the biggest additions found mainly on the newer and bigger ships is the ‘The Glass House’ – a dining venue from Olly Smith which is the Wine and Tapas Bar, however this is a supplementary Restaurant.

She has had an intimate outdoor cinema added to the lido deck.

Guests will find new shows such as ‘Magic Moments’ and a Motown show performed in the Curzon Lounge or even sometimes on deck.

P&O Cruises’ Senior Vice President, Paul Ludlow, said: “We are delighted to welcome Adonia back into the P&O Cruises fleet. Guests love our bigger ships, but Adonia has always had a special place in the hearts of many of them, who enjoy the intimate and country house hotel feel, the discovery itineraries offered and the refined gentleness of the onboard experience.”

Adonia will operate a wide variety of itinerary from to Europe from the Baltic’s to the Canary Islands and the Med to further afield to the exotic ports in the Caribbean.

Have you been on Adonia or perhaps going on the Adonia sometime soon?
