Today is extremely exciting as Cunard have announced that they will be building a brand new ship to join the fleet in 2022. This new generation of ship has been announced on the 50th Anniversary of the launch of the Legendary QE2 – a long favourite to many Cunarders.
They haven’t yet named the new vessel however we do know that she will be 113,00 gross tonnage and carry 3,000 guests. She will be the 249th ship to fly the Cunard flag.
Cunard are well overdue a new ship as the Queen Elizabeth, at time of the launch of the 4th Ship will be 12 years off.
This is also the first time since 1998 that Cunard have had four ships in service at the same time
Simon Palethorpe, Senior Vice President, Cunard said: “We have only recently marked the
50th anniversary of one of Cunard’s much loved ocean liners, the legendary QE2. What
better way to celebrate her important role in Cunard’s past than by announcing our
commitment to Cunard’s future with the commissioning of a new ship. Cunard offers
unrivalled luxury ocean experiences and the new ship firmly underpins our plans to continue
our growth across international markets.”
Its all very exciting and look out for more updates soon.
