Don’t Disappoint me Oceana!!

P&O Oceana is one of P&O oldest ships in the fleet and she gets quite a mixed review with people either loving or hating her, being a family friendly ship she caters for all ages but doesn’t pinpoint a certain part of the market like most of the other ships in the fleet.

The Adonia, Arcadia and Oriana are Exclusively for Adults.

The Ventura and Azura are the purpose built family ships in the fleet.

Leaving both Oceana and Aurora open to both markets.

I recently had a customer whom travelled on the Oceana back in April, and she was so disappointed that she actually paid more to change to one of the different ships, and not only that she was booked on a ‘Select’ so the most expensive fare and in order to get a similar price had to take the ‘Saver’ Benefits.

However as from the complaints that she had being so bad that P&O gave her benefits back to her, this has got me thinking about how people that are prepared to pay the higher prices are suffering so much as the cruise lines drops prices and therefore standard drop, and us who will pay that little bit more suffer.

I was due to be on the MV Voyager, which belongs to Voyages of Discover earlier last week but sadly that was cancelled so I am raring to go and next Monday I will make the trip once again to Southampton to see Oceana when she docks for the day.

I was fortunate enough to cruise on her back in 2006 so I am intrigued to find out have she has changed in 8 years, one would hope that she has quite significantly.

One of the problems my customer had, and I will be looking P&O so be aware was mainly in the Stateroom, the balcony flooring, well the blue flooring tiles where all coming up, not a nice sight for the eyes, although I suppose you would be looking at the beauty views rather than the floor but all the same.

The Plug socket in the main area was hanging of the wall and the taps in the bathroom where broken, now was this just a bad stateroom or are they all like it? Have you recently been on board Oceana and can comment?

It is going to be a week and a half, and the difference to how the other half live as on the Wednesday, me and a colleague have also be invited on board ‘Hapag Lloyds – Europa 11’ which is part of a 6* very exclusive cruise line which is only set to dock in Southampton once this year.

So Oceana on Monday and Europa 11 on Wednesday and as ever, if there is anything you would like pictures of or any thing you would like me to ask then please get in touch!

Feedback from you all after your cruise is invaluable and its such a help when recommending ship to new and regular cruisers so please get in touch if you have any.
