You may have seen the recent news that Celebrity Edge is now on sale.
We’ve seen some artists impressions of the ship and I have to admit, when I first saw this image, I thought it still had part of the scaffolding attached to it….
Turns out it’s not scaffolding. It’s a ‘Magic Carpet’.
Alrighty then….
So, this Magic Carpet is bright orange and looks pretty horrific but I think the idea is good!
The Magic Carpet will be what makes Celebrity Edge’s profile recognisable from miles away, and it comes in the form of an engineering feat the size of a tennis court.
It will scale the 16-deck ship through the day and evening, positioning at four of the ship’s decks and transforming into a new and exciting experience at each one.
The Magic Carpet becomes the ultimate speciality restaurant at Deck 16 offering a special ‘Dinner on the Edge’ for 90 guests. Yet alongside Deck 14, it becomes an open-air expansion of the main pool area.
On Deck 5, the Magic Carpet extends one of the ship’s speciality restaurants into al fresco seating, and at its lowest position on Deck 2, it stands as a key component to the Destination Getaway: a luxury embarkation station where guests are whisked away aboard sleek Edge Launches.
Edge will also have a Rooftop Garden. This is one of the many spaces onboard Celebrity Edge that will lure guests out to relax. Celebrated architect, Tom Wright, imaged the Rooftop Garden as a perfect place for guests to enjoy activities and games through the day, whereas at night it will be home to live music and the outdoor movie-and-meal pairing of ‘A Taste of Film’.
Overall, the 2,918-guest vessel aims to make discerning global travellers re-define how they experience the world and how intimate a cruise can be.
Chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, Richard D. Fain said ‘Celebrity Edge is one of the most exciting, innovative and transformational ships I’ve ever been involved in. The new features and refined design will establish a new baseline for ships for here on out’,
What do you think? I’m a BIG Celebrity cruises fan and this ship does look amazing (even with the big, bright orange thing attached to it).
