Brixham

We’ve just returned from our week in Brixham, Devon and my, did we choose the right week to go for the weather!

We had one day of rain (the day before we came home) but the rest of the week was a scorcher! The children had factor 50 suncream on.

We would usually go a bit further afield but fancied a UK holiday with me being pregnant as it meant we didn’t have to go too far. The drive was around 4 hours there (we stopped twice) and around 3 hours back (with one stop) so not too bad.

There was so much to do in the local area. We visited the Miniature Pony Centre,  Living Coasts, St Mary’s Beach, Broadsands Beach (by far the best beach in the area) and went into Brixham for a wander around the harbour a couple of times too.

We saw lots of interesting things at the Living Coasts place too which is a sea life centre. They do a lot of work in the rehabilitation and rescue of endangered or injured sea life.

The beach days were lovely thanks to the weather. St Marys beach was a bit of a pain to get to (numerous narrow steps and a cliff edge) but looked lovely from up above! It was really quiet too (although that’s no surprise when you take into consideration the military operation to get to the beach!)

Which was why we tried Broadsands beach next time. Much easier to get to!

Kept the children happy for hours!

The harbour is lovely and there are plenty of shops and restaurants to try out. Of course, fish is the main thing on the menu but it’s so different having it that fresh compared to what you’d get in a supermarket.

All in all a really good holiday and we’d highly recommend the area 🙂
