Thomson Changes its Name

Thomson have announced that it will change its name from Thomson to Tui, many people might have heard the name Tui for a while but they will have the logo on there first ship Discovery and then in the next 18 Months they will than have re-branded all the cruise ships with the Tui logo.

Tui discovery will be the ship that will be all inclusive not just an option of upgrading to all-inclusive if you wanted to but this will be all-inclusive on every sailing, I know I’ve mentioned this is a recent blog but is it the right way for cruise lines to go or are we getting different clientele than what cruises was years ago.

There other ships that will still feature the Thomson logo ie:the Thomson spirit will now have cruise for Adults only which will be music to a lot o peoples ears Thomson or should

I say Tui now have got some fantastic itinerary’s for 2017 so if you love a Thomson cruise take a look at our website. what does it all mean having a new logo, there won’t get different clientele on there ships and is it really worth spending all that money on changing a logo?

This is what there managing directed had to say about it, Nick Longman, Managing Director of TUI UK & Ireland said: “TUI is a recognised and trusted brand in other countries and we want customers in the UK to get to know and love it too as we transition from Thomson to TUI.  Investment in our product to enhance and personalise the customer experience is fundamental to the ethos of the TUI brand and what better way to demonstrate this than unveiling our newest addition as TUI Discovery and introducing all-inclusive as standard. The introduction of TUI Discovery marks a new era for our cruise business in the UK which will continue with the introduction of two more TUI ships to the fleet over the next three years.”

I remember when the company I worked for which was called Ilkeston Co-op many of you might not heard about us, but we got took over from Thomas cook and now they have re-branded most of the shops with the Thomas Cook logo but I don’t think it makes a difference as many of our customer’s came to us due to our service not for us having the name of Thomas Cook above the door, so I think why do these companies spend all that money re-branding when they don’t have too.

Let me know your thoughts on this.
