Harmony of the seas

Well we all no that the Harmony of the seas has come to Southampton and what an amazing ship she is, we’ve had some of my colleagues on her for a couple of nights and all I’ve seen all weekend is photos of her, she looks amazing and I was very jealous that I didn’t go on her, she is the largest ship in the world and everything about her looks fantastic, if you’ve not seen the photos then visit our website were you will find everything you need to know about her.

I was reading this article about the Harmony today and about Southampton port and what these big cruise lines do to the pollution and the roads in Southampton have a read and see what you think.

May people left behind after seeing the Harmony of the seas live Southampton say they will be glad to see her go, They complain that the air pollution from such a big ship is getting worse every year

“We can smell, see and taste it. These ships are like blocks of flats. Sometimes there are five or more in the docks at the same time. The wind blows their pollution directly into the city and as far we can tell, there is no monitoring of their pollution. We are pushing for them to use shore power but they have resisted.”

“The liners pollute, but the road traffic that they and the cargo ships generate is also huge,” he adds.

Royal Caribbean, the US owners of the Harmony of the Seas, said that the latest and most efficient pollution control systems were used and that the ship met all legal requirements.

If you lived in Southampton would you have a problem with this I think as most of us don’t we don’t see the effect that these cruise lines leave, I don’t know if I’d want to live in Southampton or would like to bring my daughter up there if its that bad but at least Royal Caribbean are trying to sort this out and when they build there new ships they make them the most efficient pollution control systems now.
