Anthem of the Seas

We’ve all heard on the news about the Anthem of the seas getting stuck in the storm with 125 mile per hour winds but should she have ever left knowing that there was a storm?

Its the captains choice weather a cruise line leaves port or not so why did the Captain on the Anthem of the seas leave port? from what I’ve been reading they thought that the winds would only be between 63-74 miles per hour which a big ship like the Anthem would have been ok in, I really don’t think they would have left if they ever knew that it would have been on the scale that it was, customer’s were having to stay in the cabins for nearly 12 hours things were falling from the bathrooms, windows were smashing waves hitting cabin windows this must have been so frightening for passengers they must have thought that it was the Titanic all over again with the ship being at a 45 degree angle for almost 4 hours.

The captain might have made the wrong decision taking the ship out but how well did he manage the ship in these conditions extremely good I must say with only  4 people with minor inquires out of 6,000 passenger’s and 1,500 crew members  its an testament to how deftly the captain handled an unexpected weather system.

The general public must know that the weather on the seas can change in a matter of minutes, but people are always wanting to blame someone so we all know that it will be the captain that gets the blame for this. Royal Caribbean have apologised for this and have given passengers a full refund and passenger’s who was on board will also get a 50% reduction on there future cruise with them.

Anthem of the seas has now had her repairs sorted and is now leaving port to carry on sailing  and thing the captain did a fantastic job and it wouldn’t stop me going on a cruise ship, what are your thoughts on this do you think the Anthem should have started to sail or so you think she should have stayed in port, let me know your thoughts.
