Is this the end of compulsory tipping?

Last week Celebrity cruises announced that they would no longer require us to pre pay for gratuities when choosing Celebrity select dining, or anytime dining – better known as.

This is fantastic news for everyone who enjoys the flexibility of the anytime dining and like to tip who they like.

If it is your first cruise then most Brits would question why they have to pre pay for service they have not yet received! Sounds crazy but once you have cruise you can probably see why this is a good option. The service has been fantastic on every cruise I have been on. I found myself liking certain waiters or bar staff but in most cases the service is so good you would probably end up paying more than normal if you tipped who you wanted!

The fact it is forced upon when option for a flexible dining option is very unfair and we do not like it. Brilliant decision Celebrity. I don’t think it will change anything about how individuals tip just nice not to be forced into it.

This news comes only weeks after the announcement of no formal night’s on-board Celebrity cruises.

Jackets, ties and DJ’s are no longer required in the main restaurant! The formal nights are being replaced with evening chic nights!

Evening chic is dressier than smart casual but less than formal attire! Can they not make it any more confusing?

They will no longer serve sparkling wine instead this will be replaced with a drink themed around the destination. Mojitos in the Caribbean sounds lovely!

The move comes because of feedback from guests.

Will you be removing the gratuities before you travel?

What do you think about ‘evening chic’ replacing formal nights?

I would love to hear from you
