Celebrating 175 years!

175 years ago, the Britannia, Cunard’s 1^st ship departed Britain and sailed over to America.

Celebrations started yesterday when all 3 of Cunard ships met in Southampton to celebrate the anniversary of their 1^st sailing!

3^rd May is the anniversary of the sinking of Lusitania and Cunard pays tribute 100 later.

Celebrations started with all 3 Queens leaving Southampton in procession! The Queen Mary 2 led the procession out of Southampton.

What a stunning sight!

Plenty of people turned up to capture this piece of history!

After only a few hours together they go their separate ways.

Queen Elizabeth will sail to Hamburg, Victoria will sail to Guernsey and Queen Mary 2 will sail to New York.

They all meet again in Liverpool on 25 May to salute the city that was home to Cunard for over 127 years. What a stunning sight that will be for Liverpool! Maritime fans will be travelling far and wide to experience this fantastic historic celebration.

I bet the fireworks will be fantastic!

Finally on 4^th July the Queen Mary 2 will follow the same route across the Atlantic towards Canada as the very 1^st ship Britannia did all those years ago.

I think it is brilliant that Cunard celebrate their history in this way.
