P&O have announced details planned for their newest and biggest ship due to be launched in 2020.
This 5,200 passenger ship will be the largest ever built for the UK market and it sounds like they are taking a fair few ideas from Royal Caribbean.
One of the exciting features will be The Dome which is a clear sky dome pool with retractable stage , water feature and whirlpools. This will be used as an all weather venue for entertainment and casual dining during the day
At night there will be aerial performances and aerial shows.
Sounds very exciting and will be a completely new venue for P&O guests who may be looking for something different while keep with a British style ship.
I am still not convinced how well this ship will go down as a lot of P&O guests still prefer the smaller ships so I guess P&O are hoping they will attract more families and a younger generation of cruisers.
Hopefully if their prices are right it may help them to attract people away from their competitors who are currently cruising out of Southampton.
I do however think they will need to introduce a drinks package scheme.
There are a lot of people who will not book a cruise anymore without the option of a package because of the concern over how much their final bill would be and without this they may still prefer to go with lines that offer this and even provide free drinks packages if they book at the right time.
Here is an idea of what you can expect on this brand new ship:
– 17 places to eat
-7 speciality restaurants
-12 places to enjoy a drink and see the sea
-13 entertainment venues from the theatre to adult only venues
-Three pop-up entertainment spaces/venues
-16 whirlpools
-4 swimming pools (three outside, one inside)
-9 places to have breakfast
-5 places to enjoy afternoon tea
-7 places to have coffee
Let’s watch this space and see what happens
