Why book a suite with Cunard?

Last week I boarded the amazing Queen Mary 2 for the day to tour around the Princess and Queen’s grill suites and learn about the benefits of suite life on-board Cunard’s fleet.  Being someone who normally travels in inside, outside or balcony cabins I was very excited to get a look into ‘how the other half live’ and the benefits they get for what normally is a substantial amount extra they pay to stay in a suite.

Let’s start with the suites themselves.  Firstly, we visited a Princess grill suite.   This offered more space including a dressing room, living area with sofa, bathroom with bath and shower facilities and extra luxuries such as a velour dressing gown and more luxurious toiletries.  When upgrading to a Queen’s grill suite the size  again increased substantially of the suite and balcony along with the additional bonus of having a butler service!  You will also get a complimentary fully stocked bar.  Stepping into the penthouse, Royal and duplex suites was incredible.  My favourite of all of these being the duplex Queen’s grill suite which really must be seen to be believed.  There are even kitchens in some of these where your butler can prepare food to be eaten in suite.

Whilst with many cruise-lines the size of the suite and the quality of the amenities within are the only major difference when booking a suite in comparison to a standard cabin, Cunard offer many more extras, and I feel rightly so.  They offer exclusive Princess grill and Queen’s grill restaurants to match the suite you have booked.  These offer open dining options in a more intimate, luxurious setting, more tables for 2 and a wider and higher quality choice of food and wine.  They even allow scope to order away from the menu if there is something you’d prefer.

Suite guests also benefit from their own exclusive areas around the ship including the grills lounge and terrace.  All grill guests benefit from priority embarkation and Queen’s grill guests get priority disembarkation.  If you need to get a tender in port, then Queen’s grill guests (in Q1-Q4 Queen’s grill suites) also benefit from priority tender services!
