Fun in the sun on the South coast!

As some of you may know, I live near Southampton.  Which is great for getting to a cruise ship very quickly and sailing away or just visiting for the day.  It is also brilliant for the many days out available within an hour drive of where I live.  Especially in this beautiful sunshine we are enjoying.  This got me to thinking why not recommend staying down by the South coast to customers who have to travel further for a cruise?  We always feel we have to travel further to enjoy amazing scenery and visit new places but there are so many unexplored places in the UK!

Here are just some of the days out I’ve experienced over the past few months with my family:

Alum Chine, Bournemouth

There are many beautiful beaches around Bournemouth, Poole and beyond but I especially love it at Alum Chine.  This was where my parents took me for holiday when I was a child and where I love to take my children now!  The reasons for this are:

  • It never seems to crowded.
  • It has lovely shallow waters which slowly get deeper and perfect sand with plenty of shells to collect.
  • There is a fantastic play area for children of all ages.
  • That play area is next to a lovely Italian restaurant to enjoy food, a coffee or cold drink so everyone’s happy!
  • You can walk for miles along the promenade with just beautiful tree lined slopes on one side and the beach on the other. No cars in sight!

Paulton’s Park (with Peppa Pig World!)

This is just one for the families.  But some people travel from hundreds of miles away to visit this park specially to see their children’s faces as they enter Peppa Pig world!  Mine loved this area when they were younger but now they are 9,8 and 6 they prefer the rest of the park.  We visited the other week and my partner was dragged around all the rollercoasters in The Lost Kingdom, a dinosaur themed area in Paulton’s park, while I had a more relaxing time by the splash park and around the less scary rides with my son (the girls always seem to be the bravest!)  It is a fantastic theme park and always a great family day out.  Just a once yearly thing for us though as a day out for the 5 of us costs £150!

Warsash

We went for a walk here one Sunday morning recently and I wondered why I hadn’t been before!  I had previously been over to Hamble-Le-Rice which is across the water (separated by a marina of boats) but Warsash offered a much better walk.  Strolling by the waterfront here you really do appreciate the beauty England has to offer.  I would travel much further normally but it amazes me to find places like this on my doorstep.  The pictures say it all for this one!

Well that’s how I’ve spent my last few weeks when I haven’t been working or sitting out in the garden!  Long may this beautiful weather continue!
