What do you eat on a cruise ship?

As you are probably well aware there are a huge amount of different cuisines available to you on a cruise holiday.  In the Lido, Wind-Jammer or whatever the buffet style restaurant is called on your ship, you will find a huge array of hot and cold buffet style foods from roast dinners to pasta and hot dogs, burgers fries, salads, Indian and Chinese style food but to name a few.

I was just reading about McDonalds in Iceland has just closed it’s last restaurant and the last ever burger and fries is pride of place in a national museum with a web cam viewing it so people can log in and watch the decay of Iceland’s last Big Mac ! It made me think about food on a ship.

In you’re main sitting you will have a choice of at least six starters, six mains and six deserts.  Not to mention some of the specialty venues which have the likes of goats cheese souffle, beef wellington and fancy chicken in a fancy sauce.

Do you try something different, knowing if you don’t like it then you can order something else?  I once tried snails in a garlic sauce!  I have never had them and to be honest never again, but at least I had a go.  I did ask the waiter if i didn’t like them then could I order something else, he just said order both and leave what you don’t want!  See so you can try something different without feeling like that you are spending too much money.

I like to diversify eating different foods I wouldn’t normally have back home if I can when I sail, only because the ingredients which go into some of the exquisite meals I cannot find in my local Asda!!
