Royal Caribbean Rumours

There are always speculation and rumours surrounding particular cruise lines.  At the forefront is usually Royal Caribbean beings they are the leading cruise line for innovative cruising.

The latest rumour is that Royal Caribbean are stopping their corkage fee for bringing bottles of wine or champagne on board on embarkation.  In their brochure RCCL state that passengers can bring 2 bottles of wine or champagne on board on embarkation however if clients wanted to drink said alcohol in public areas there is a $25 corkage fee.

This is now not the case, however RCCL have kept this very quiet.  What if the bottle is a screw cap I hear you ask? Yes there was no corkage fee on that already.

It has been documented that some people go to extreme lengths to bring alcohol on board.  Filling up a hot water bottle, emptying a water bottle and filling it with vodka are two methods I have heard of.

Cruse lines do charge an extortionate amount for drinks on board so this is a small victory for passengers.
