Hair raising on Independence of the Seas

I have recently had an email from clients who are on board Royal Caribbeans Independence of the Seas at the moment.  Apparently Royal Caribbean sent a letter to all guests around one week before she was due to set sail stating that there will not be any hair dryers in any cabins from Southampton until she docks in Malaga 6 DAYS INTO THE CRUISE !!

Electricians are re wiring the plug sockets on board so they are 120v, so the letter says.

Now on a 14 night cruise there will be approximately 3-4 formal nights and one of these nights will be within the first few days.  Now if clients had not completed their personalizer with their home address details then they would not have received this letter.

I would hate to be on that ship if I hadn’t known about this, especially if I was travelling with a partner who needed to do their hair and dry it.  Apparently guests have to order a hair dryer from their room attendants an hour before they need it and they can only have this hair dryer for a set amount of time.

First of all I thought this was to do with the EU decision to ban certain electrical items over a certain wattage to help the conservation of the planet, but no its only Royal Caribbean doing a few electrical jobs.

You would have thought Royal Caribbean would have let clients know about this a little earlier than one week prior to sailing.  Crew on board are stating that Travel agents were informed however Royal Caribbeans call center in Guatemala say that a letter was sent direct to clients.  So Royal Caribbean need to sort out how they inform guests last minute before blaming Travel Agents for not passing on information, which coincidentally I did not get anything from Royal Caribbean!
