Be abroad savvy

On talking to clients who have just returned from their cruise I hear all sorts of tales of what they got up to when they visit some of the wonderful ports of call.  Some are good tales and some not so good.

When you are in a foreign country you really have to adhere to their way of life and i suppose you can call in rules.

For instance clients have just returned from a Royal Caribbean cruise which visited  the port of Villefranche for Nice.  The port was excellent however my clients decided to look round themselves which meant they had to get a bus. They bought a return ticket on the bus however once the got on the bus for the return journey they had to validate their ticket on the bus to show that in fact they had bought a return journey.

They did this however the ticket was upside down and the inspectors who looked at the ticket said that it hadn’t validated so they had to pay a fine of 33 Euros! there were other foreign passengers on the bus and had the same problem and were threatened with police action if they didn’t pay the fine!

So the moral of the story is check with local customs and make sure you are not stung ashore!
