Smokers Guide To Cruising

I will have to be honest there is nothing worse than being on a cruise and being told that I cannot smoke on my balcony as well as if I want to light up, I have to find a designated area on board the ship to have a cigarette. Understandably we all have bad habits, but talk about throwing us smokers out in the cold, it’s unreal.  When I was on Fred Olsen’s the other year the only place you were allowed to smoke was a poxy little place outside the back of the Neptune Lounge, where you had to sit outside in the cold/wet weather to enjoy a cigarette. I can hear you all saying well give it up it will kill you. My answer to that is, it’s my enjoyment in life and my option to smoke, I am not hurting anyone but myself so what is the major issue. Well this blog is just a few handy tips on where you can find some warmth and shelter on board your cruise whilst enjoying your cigarette.
  • On deck make sure you find a place that has the air vent above you, it will keep you warm.
  • If you go to the back end of the ship you will be sheltered from the wind.
  • In the casino you can enjoy your cigarette in the warmth.
  • Find a deck chair with a blanket and cover yourself, so you don’t get cold.
  • Some ships still allow you to smoke in certain bars.
  • Smoking areas around the pool are normally sheltered.
  • Find a place at the front of the ship where they have the thick steel bar that goes around the ship so it will protect you from the wind.
If you have any more hints on how to keep warm whilst enjoying your cigarette, please share it with us, I would like to know your suggestions.
One thing I will say, if you are ever caught on board smoking in your cabin or try to sneak a cigarette in a place you are not allowed to, be prepared to be charged a hefty fine of at least $250, or you could even be asked to leave the ship. It is really not worth breaking the rule. I do understand people that don’t smoke but on the other hand people that don’t smoke have to understand us smokers simple !
