Not got a passport ?

And you want to travel on a cruise, well don’t worry a bus pass will do!

This is a first for me, but would you believe Fred Olsen’s have announced that you do not need a passport if you are travelling on a cruise within the UK. You can now experience the delights of England, Scotland, Whales and Northern Ireland totally stress free, and do not need a passport with 6 month validity on it. As long as you can produce other acceptable forms of identification that comply with the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code such as :

– EU national ID card

– Driving licence

– Council-issued bus pass / travel card

– Firearms licence

– VALIDATE UK card

All the above will be accepted.

Around Britain cruises are very popular and Fred Olsen offer three in total to choose from :

28th April 2015 – Boudicca‘s 11-night D1509 ‘Floral Britannia’ cruise, ex Dover.

21st June 2015 – Boudicca‘s 7 -night D1514 ‘Highlights of the Highlands’ cruise, ex Rosyth (Edinburgh).

23rd June 2015 – Balmoral‘s 10-night L1508 ‘UK Islands & Landmarks’ cruise, ex Southampton.

One thing I will say is any itineraries that is calling into Eire will be excluded.

Goodness this will make life so much easier for passengers and not only that you don’t have the expense of having to pay out for passports which are not cheap these days.

Who needs a passport if you’re travelling with Fred Olsen’s !
