New Visa Rules For Visiting Turkey !
I was having a conversation today with a passenger of mine who is flying into Turkey to embark on her Celebrity cruise for 12 days. She didn’t realise that an e-visa would be required to enter Turkey. So I thought I would let you know that you do. If you are entering into Turkey you will need an e- visa. All British nationals who are boarding a cruise that starts in Turkey, or are disembarking a cruise that finishes in Turkey, MUST obtain a visa in advance of leaving home for their holiday. Guests who visit a port of call in Turkey during their cruise, will not need to obtain a visa in advance of the cruise, as long as the ship is not staying in port for longer than 72 hours and they are only visiting the local area and returning to the ship on the same day.
Turkish visas can be obtained both online (via www.e-visa.gov.tr ) and at the port of entry. Passengers arriving in to Turkey without an e-Visa will be able to obtain them via interactive kiosks located at Turkish airports until the deadline, which is the 31st December 2014.

In accordance with the new e-visa system that has been introduced, border authorities will maintain existing procedures for a certain transitional period. As a result of recent efforts in order to make the transitional period for the new e-visas procedure as smooth as possible, the deadline for the transitional period has been extended until end of December 2014. During the transition period (now until 31 December 2014), the visas can be obtained both online (via www.e-visa.gov.tr) & at the port of entry. Visitors arriving in Turkey without an e-Visa will be able to obtain them via interactive kiosks located at Turkish airports until this deadline.
