“Happy Birthday Queen Mary 2”

What a remarkable event it was on Friday 9th May 2014. All three sister ships, Queen Mary 2,  Queen Elizabeth, and Queen Victoria, sailed alongside each other into Southampton waterfront on Friday morning to mark the tenth anniversary of the world famous liner Queen Mary 2. At about 5am in the morning the QM2 marked her arrival in the port when she was joined by Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria in sounding a birthday salute which echoed across the city as the three vessels berthed in the docks, they were playing Happy Birthday through there tunnels on board, sugar I’m sure all the residents in Southampton must have been awoken. What a beautiful sight seeing these 3 astounding ships sailing together in sink, I even have goose bumps thinking about it.
Then about 10am the Duke of Edinburgh visited the QM2 while she was berthed at the Ocean Terminal. The Duke of Edinburgh shared a joke with crew members as he was given a behind-the-scenes tour of the luxury cruise liner Queen Mary 2 to mark its 10th anniversary.

Later that day the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria vessels moved from their positions at around 8pm in preparation for the evening’s celebrations. They were followed by QM2 at around 9.30pm. She was set to reverse out of her berth and hold her position in the water, creating the breath-taking site of a curved array of the “Three Queens”. At 10pm the button was pressed to start the fireworks display.

Here is a little video to remind us of this spectacular day , Happy Birthday Queen Mary 2, what a remarkable day.
