Clued up Cruisers Don’t Queue!

Ok, so you’re all excited and can’t wait till you board your cruise, you’re looking forward to a nice relaxing time to unwind, enjoy some sun and explore different places. The last thing that’s on your mind is all the waiting about in long queues before you have even boarded your cruise, so I thought I’d give you some tips on how to avoid them that I’ve picked up over the years.

1st Check in on line.

Most cruise liners expect you to check in online before you travel, they need all passport, insurance and next of kin details. If you don’t do this and just turn up at port it’ll cause you a lot of unwanted delays.

My advice? Do it online and  it’s done and sorted, so no hold ups at port!

2nd Check in times.

Ok, so your tickets say anything between 12-3pm to check in and you arrive at 11am thinking you’ll miss the rush; well to be honest this is what most people are thinking, so not a good idea. If you turn up about 1.30pm-2pm, you’ll just breeze through check in, show your passports, boarding passes and then you are on. No mess no fuss!

3rd  Pre Book Your Car Parking.

Parking at Southampton is a nightmare and pre booking your car makes life so much simpler. You either have port parking, which is a two minute walk to the port or you have a meet and greet service, where an agent will meet you at port and take your car and return it to you at the end of your cruise. Simple and no queuing!

4th Pre Book Your Excursions.

Did you know that you can pre book excursions before you travel ? You can either pre book them through your cruise personaliser or through you booking agent. Not only will this save you time and let you peruse them at your leisure, it means you won’t run the risk of the more popular ones selling out!

5th Pre Book Dining.

Most cruise liners allow you to pre book certain specialty dining on your cruise personaliser before you travel. If you have a special occasion or prefer a certain restaurant, pre book before you board. Then you’ll not be disappointed on missing out – no waiting in queues when you’re on board.

My advice is to start planning your cruise before your travel, you can reserve everything from seats to shows to tables at their specialty dining venues to spa services and shore excursions. This will make life so much easier when you board and no waiting in queues and it avoids any disappointment.
