Celebrity Cruises Go Chic !!!!!

The big news this week is that Celebrity Cruises have announced that they are abolishing their formal evenings, starting on the 4th December. The formal night dress code is being relaxed across the fleet and you will no longer require a jacket and tie. They’ll now be known as “Evening Chic” nights instead.  The new dress code, which is going to be dressier than “smart casual” but less dressy than formal wear.

What to wear :

  • Women should feel comfortable wearing a cocktail dress, skirt, trousers, or designer/smart jeans with an elegant top.
  • Men should feel comfortable wearing trousers or smart jeans with a dress shirt or button-down shirt or sweater, with blazers optional.

Although Celebrity cruises are saying farewell to Formal Nights, Smart Casual evenings are staying the same. That being said, certain clothes are still not acceptable for Evening Chic as ripped jeans, shorts and t-shirts won’t be allowed under any circumstances.

Not only are Celebrity Cruises changing the dress codes but you will also find other changes, such as : The sparkling wine at the Captains Reception will be replaced on a drink reflecting your destination. If your sailing around the Caribbean, you’ll be enjoy a Mojito or maybe enjoying a toast with a Bellini on sailings around the Mediterranean. Sparkling wine will always be available for those who just can’t go without.

Do you think this is the right decision by Celebrity Cruises ?

Well from the feedback I have already from past passengers, they are not impressed. Most passengers enjoy getting dressed up and feel that formal evenings enhances their cruise experience and I will have to agree with them, it was definitely the highlight of my cruise. Nothing better than getting dressed up, that’s the whole point about doing a cruise !
