Why should you have to pay more for an American?

So in this weeks news, Royal Caribbean announced that starting from the 27th March. they would now be introducing a room service charge (aka known as a convenience fee) of $7.95 for items ordered from their new premium room service menu which also includes an American Breakfast.  However if you order from the continental breakfast menu you don’t have to pay the charge.

Other new items on the room service menu include an upgraded items such as a Royal Wagyu Burger, a classic Philly cheese steak with shaved rib eye, chicken wings with a choice of four sauces, and a healthy grilled salmon dish with cucumber mint yogurt. On the American breakfast this includes your egg options i.e omelettes, fried eggs, poached etc, and pancakes, and then your hot items such as bacon, sausages and hash browns.

However If you are lucky enough to book a grand suite or above with Royal Caribbean then you will still receive room service complimentary.

Surely though the same person who would deliver your American breakfast would also be the same person to deliver the Continental breakfast so why not is there not a charge for both breakfast choices? Or is that as the American breakfast is cooked/hot items the room steward will need to run faster to deliver it so would get through more shoes and that’s why the convenience charge has been introduced? But what happens if you order items of both menus what happens to the charge?

I don’t tend to have room service as i normally book an inside cabin and don’t want my cabin smelling of food all day, but do you have room service and would you pay for it? And would this charge send you to the dining rooms instead?
